Reset your device

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It doesn't delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

Master reset with settings menu

  1. Back up all necessary data. See the Important note below for more information.
  2. From the Home screen, tap Start.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Security.
  5. Tap Factory reset.
  6. Enter the numbers 1234.
  7. Tap Yes.

Master reset with hardware keys

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys.

  1. If the device is plugged into the charger, unplug it.
  2. Turn off the device. To do this, press and hold the End/Power key. If the device is unresponsive or does not turn off, remove the battery, and re-insert it.
  3. Press and hold the Volume up and Volume down keys.
  4. Press the End/Power key until you see the message, ‘This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press Vol Up to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.’
  5. Release all buttons.
  6. Press the Volume Up key to perform the reset, or press any other key to cancel the reset.
  7. When prompted after the device resets, press the Volume Up key to continue starting the device.
  8. Check the software version. If it is not up to date, then upgrade the software on the device.

Memory and SIM cards

SIM card

This device supports a mini-GBA size SIM card.

  1. Insert your fingernail into the slot on the left side of the battery cover and lift the cover off of the phone.
  2. To remove the battery from the phone, pull the tab on the plastic film wrapped over the top of the battery. Remove and discard the plastic film.
  3. Slide the SIM card into the SIM card slot with the gold contacts facing down and the notched corner facing out of the slot.
  4. Align the gold contacts on the battery with the contacts in the battery compartment. Place the battery flat and do not angle it as you insert it.
  5. Push the battery into place and replace the battery cover

Memory card

  1. Insert your fingernail into the slot on the left side of the battery cover and lift the cover off of the phone.
  2. Push the memory card into the memory card slot with the gold contacts facing down toward the screen.
  3. Push the memory card into the slot until it clicks into place.
  4. Replace the back cover.
  5. Click the back cover into place.

Network settings

Change band

  1. From the Home screen, tap Start.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap WirelessControls.
  4. Tap Phone.
  5. Tap Band.
  6. Tap a Network type:
    • Auto (recommended)
    • GSM
    • WCDMA
  7. Tap a band frequency:
    • Auto
    • GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100+900) (not supported)
    • GSM(1900+850)
    • UMTS(2100+800) (not supported)

Manual network selection

  1. From the Home screen, tap Start.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Menu.
  4. Tap All settings.
  5. Tap Personal.
  6. Tap Phone.
  7. Tap the Network tab.
  8. Tap the drop down list under Networkselection.
  9. Tap Manual. The device searches for available networks.
  10. Tap the desired network.
  11. Tap OK.
